NILES - For Niles Mayor Michael McCauslin, the Friday edition of Gloria's Place was expected to be a regular show.
What it turned out to be was a surprise party for his 51st birthday.
The host of the WNIL on 1290 morning radio show, Gloria Cooper, said the stunt was pulled off with the help of the mayor's wife, Lucy.
The party and radio show were both held at the Starbucks located inside Martin's Supermarket.
Approximately 30 people in the coffee shop were served cake for the celebration.
Cooper said McCauslin and Niles City Administrator Terry Eull sit-in on the show about once a month for a segment she called ‘News From City Hall.'
The show broadcasts live from the Starbucks located inside Martin's Supermarket and Cooper said WNIL hopes to start doing the city hall segment every other week.
On Friday's show, the trio was discussing the housing development proposed for the north side neighborhood and getting the city officials' reactions to the recent school bond election, Cooper said.
