Sheriff investigates motorcycle fatal

ST. JOSEPH – The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred on Riverside Road. near Chabot Road, in Hagar Township.

Todd Michael Findlay, 38, from Sodus was operating his 1998 Kawasaki ZX900 motorcycle, he was going south on Riverside Road when he failed to negotiate a right hand curve. The motorcycle went off the east side of the road into a lawn and flipped over several times, throwing Findlay off and to the ground. Mr. Findlay died from his injuries while in route to Watervliet Community Hospital; he was being transported by Coloma Ambulance.

The Berrien County Accident Reconstruction Team was called in and the initial investigation shows that he motorcycle was traveling while above the posted 30 MPH zone Findlay was exiting. The accident remains under investigation.
