Thank you for opening the door to the future. REMARKABLE ENDEAVOR :) "Best of Luck" implementing these money/energy saving solutions. If only Michigan could come back! Without good, available employment, like in the past, our future is scary at best ... but necessary to allow your dream of restoring "Mother Earth" back to where it should be. I will keep your information for my affordable future. Living in a total electric home with our ONLY electric resource ever increasing their cost(s) ... plus the general cost of living ... ensure the hope of attaining a "simple existence" nearly impossible. Thanks again for your ingenious (as usual) "step forward" for our future existence.
Thankfully, we have President Obama. He, along with others like you, give us all hope for the future. Classrooms "were" rewarding ... but NOT the same as it was. B.S. resident!

Hmm, I wonder how much electricity a $1,500 battery will store... My estimate is that it won't be more than 5 kWh. Not enough for the 20 kWh daily usage estimated by Mr. Topash ($400 a month at 65c per kWh, and then divided by 30 to get to daily kWh). If there is snow covering the panels, the battery will last for 5 hours. What then?

The fact is, PV solar electricity is an expensive proposition. Unisolar laminates, in particular, are currently too expensive (if adjusted for their low, 6.3% efficiency on module-level). Kyocera crystalline panels may be a better deal, assuming they are sold at competitive prices.
