I don't think that the charging stations will be located along the side of the road. This would slow the traffic down and cause lots of problems as listed above. The stations should be located at rest stops much like on 94. People on 94 have places to go and the rest stops never seem to slow them down. I would welcome the chance to make a stop and charge the car and look around the town. There are lots of details that need to be worked out to make this work but the idea is promising.

I haven't heard an idea that is more ludicrous in a long time. U.S. 12 is a federal highway that carries a great deal of commerce carried by large trucks, and folks that actually have to be somewhere. It is NOT some back road that meanders along the back country. It is true that the route contains some very picturesque scenery, many historic towns and other venues, but being a two lane road in most areas, it is NOT conducive to what Ms Gallagher envisions. Safety alone would be a major concern, as small, slow, and not designed for highway ues vehicles would be crawling along competing for the same space as 80,000 lb trucks. If Ms. Gallagher wants to create a "greenway" let the state designate some of the side roads that parallel the highway, and provide access to the towns along the way. In the long run, it would be safer for everyone and of course provide better scenery for the treehuggers.
