Lakeland HealthCare recently welcomed Janice Crocker, of Niles, to the newly-created position of director of practice operations. In her new role, Crocker is responsible for the oversight of the operations of medical offices owned and operated by Lakeland in locations throughout southwest Michigan.
Most recently, Crocker spent more than 15 years as Senior Manager and Healthcare Consultant at Crowe Horwath, LLP, in South Bend, where she provided operational consulting services, including revenue cycle management, operational process improvement, and interim management to a variety of healthcare entities. Previously, Crocker served as Director of Medical Records at Pawating Hospital in Niles, now known as Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles.
Crocker holds the master of science in administration degree, with a health emphasis, from the University of Notre Dame, and a bachelor of science in health information administration from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn.
Crocker is a registered health information administrator, certified coding specialist, fellow in the American Health Information Management Association (FAHIMA), and is certified in health care privacy. She is also active as president of the Michiana Health Information Management Association, a member of the Michigan Health Information Management Association and serves as a member of the Practice Council for Physician Practices, which advises the American Health Information Management Association concerning issues of critical importance for physician practices. Crocker serves the community as an advisory board member in the area of health information management for Southwestern Michigan College, Ferris State University and Baker College.
