Niles voters did make it out to the polls on Tuesday to elect city council representatives.
At voting stations for each ward, election day workers said they were seeing voters make their way in – though during the daytime hours, traffic at each precinct seemed to be slow.
Wednesday morning results show that council member for the first ward, Patricia Gallagher, received 39 total votes; Robert Durm of the second ward, received 65 votes; the third ward’s candidate and current council member William Weimer received 54 votes; and William Skalla, representative for the fourth ward, saw 113 total votes.
Each council member ran unopposed.
In other area election results, the City of Dowagiac’s incumbent mayor Donald Lyons beat his opponent Scott Wreggitt with 285 to 156 votes.
Also in Dowagiac, Treasurer Robin Coffey received 429 votes, running unopposed as did all three council members: Lori Hunt getting 90 votes in ward one, Bob Schuur receiving 218 votes in ward two and Leon Laylin seeing 107 votes in ward three.
