Niles falls to Portage Central 3-0

KALAMAZOO – The Niles volleyball team had its season come to an end Tuesday night as it was defeated by Portage Central 3-0 in the Class A District Tournament.

The Lady Vikings were defeated by the Lady Mustangs at Kalamazoo Central High School 25-15, 25-12 and 25-10.

Ashley Love led Niles with three kills, while Rachel Zeider, Sarah Ferguson and Devyn Roberts all had two kills each.

Taylor Brandstatter led the team in digs with six.

Brea Haines, Ashley Allison and Charissa Spear all finished with three digs.

Becca Lewis had seven assists and a block, while Love also had a block for the Lady Vikings.

Class B
The Class B District Tournament at Lakeshore High School continues tonight.

Buchanan, third in the Lakeland Conference, will face St. Joseph, second in the Big 16 Conference at 6 p.m.

In the second match of the doubleheader, Lakeland Conference champion Edwardsburg will take on Berrien Springs, which finished fourth in the league.

That match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

The winners advance to Saturday’s championship match at 7 p.m.

Class C
Brandywine will open up district competition tonight against former Lakeland conference foe River Valley at 6.

The second match will pit New Buffalo against Bridgman at 7:30 p.m.

The championship match is slated for 7 p.m. on Thursday.

At Constantine, Cassopolis will face Mendon in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m.

The first match will pit White Pigeon against Centreville.

The finals are Thursday at 7.
