Beacon Baptist hires new pastor

Beacon Baptist Church, affiliated with the Southern Baptist Conference, has called the Rev. Ronald L. Brown Sr. as their new pastor.

Brown served 22 years in the U. S. Navy and retired as a chief petty officer in 1981. He became a senior loss prevention manager for J. C. Penney Co. and retired in 1997. God called Brown to preach and he began his studies at the Moody Bible Institute.

Brown was ordained in 2001. He pastored Belmont Bible Church in Downers Grove, Ill. for nine years prior to his call to Beacon Baptist Church.

Brown has been married for 46 years, has four children and 14 grandchildren. He enjoys classic cars, golf, woodworking and quiet evenings on the front porch.

Brown and his wife, Alice Diane, reside on Philip Road.
