michaelFall is in full swing and winter is creeping upon us, so get out and enjoy all of your parks, walking trails, events and outdoor activities in Berrien and Cass counties. Make sure you stop by your local farm market for the last of the fall harvest. Nature has many things to choose from to decorate your home for fall festivities and Holidays.  Use a wide variety of fall leaves to decorate your tables and don’t forget to purchase fall flowers such as mums; they are available in a wide array of colors at your local markets and fruit stands.

• Nov. 12, Monthly consignment auction at Big Bear Auction Co. located in Eau Claire.

• Nov. 13-15, Beckwith Theatre Co. presents “The World of Carl Sandburg.”  Tickets are available at the door: Adults $10, 18 and under $5 admission, located at 100 New York St., Dowagiac.

• Nov. 14, Faerie Cottage Workshop -We are pleased to bring back by popular demand Tatiana “Queen of the Faeries” Katara for another faerie cottage workshop. Tatiana provides materials to make a charming cottage that any faerie would love, either placed outside in your garden or displayed in your home. Materials are provided, but please gather items to share, trade, or donate, such as pine cones, acorns, seed pods, mosses, bark, lace, beads, buttons, and pieces of glass and mirror. Use your imagination! Check out Tatiana’s Web site at www.faeriefactory.com for inspiration. Bring your lunch or have lunch in the Fernwood Cafe. Advance registration is required by Tuesday, Nov.10. Fee $90 (Members $75).

• Nov. 14, Holiday Potpourri & Bazaar – The Ladies Circle of St. Paul Lutheran Church, 305 W. State St., Cassopolis, will have their annual Holiday Potpourri and Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring: crafts, gifts, holiday baked goods, holiday decor and a “white reindeer” bargain table. • Nov. 1-15, Lakeshore Rug Hookers – Now on exhibit in Fernwood’s are gallery is an exhibit by members of the Lakeshore Rug Hookers through Nov. 15. The art of rug hooking has been the focus of much attention in the world of arts and antiques. If you have the desire to be a “hooker,” are interested in collecting, would like to purchase a rug, or enjoy seeing this historic folk art, you won’t want to miss this exhibit.

• Nov. 20-22, Old Fashion Christmas Celebration is proudly presented by the Chamber of Commerce and Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital. As Yuletide classics trumpet the crisp air, you’re sure to enjoy the relaxed pace of holiday shopping the way it used to be. Our shopkeepers offer warm surroundings, refreshments and cheer, as they present their finest in holiday merchandise during the three-day Christmas Open House Weekend, Nov. 20-22, located in Downtown Dowagiac.

• Nov. 21, 13th Annual Arts and Craft Show, to be held in conjunction with Dowagiac’s Old-Fashioned Christmas Celebration. This event is sponsored by Theta Mu Sorority of Beta Sigma Phi and will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be lots of unique arts and crafts from many area craftsmen; also many festivities will take place in Dowagiac with its Old-Fashioned Christmas Celebration Weekend. Free admission to craft show, donuts and lunch will be available for purchase. This event is located at Dowagiac Union High School 701 W. Prairie Rd., Dowagiac.

• Nov. 22, Decorate Downtown for the Holiday Homecoming Celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. in downtown Niles.

• Nov. 28, Downtown Holiday Homecoming – Lighting of the City Tree, carriage rides, entertainment and shopping, located in downtown Niles.

Also take a visit to your local senior center they offer a wide variety of events, trips and activities.  There are many groups that meet daytime and evening at your local senior center you don’t have to be a senior citizen to enjoy your local senior center.

Be sure to check all of your local libraries for a wonderful list of events and fun filled things to do for all ages.
