Dowagiac sophomore Craig Zebell was honored by the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association recently.
Zebell was named Second Team All-State.
Zebell, who played center-mid for most of the season, scored 18 goals and had 12 assists for the Chieftains, who finished fifth in the Wolverine Conference and reached the district finals before losing to state runner-up South Haven.
“He is a very unselfish player and could have scored more goals, but would feed to the open player rather than take shots” Dowagiac coach Mike Williams said. “He is a player that cares more about the success of the team rather than his personal stats. Because of his unselfish play, he helped to make the players around him perform better.”
Edwardsburg’s Andy Boyles was an honorable mention selection in Divison 2. The Eddies were eliminated in the district final by Sturgis.
