ALBION – The Britons wrapped up their 2009 campaign recently and under the direction of Coach Jerry Block, Albion won eight matches, including a 3-2 victory over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion Calvin College on Oct. 27.
Twenty-three student-athletes will receive varsity awards, including:
Mat Peters, the son of Michael Peters of Niles and Denise Peters of Niles and a graduate of Niles High School, played in 16 matches.
He will receive a certificate designating his first-year award.
Josh Deuel, the son of Danny Hagen and Janet Hagen of Dowagiac and a graduate of Dowagiac Senior High School, played in nine matches and dished out an assist. He will receive a certificate designating his first-year award.
Clay Hewitt, the son of Larry Hewitt and Julie Hewitt of Dowagiac and a graduate of Dowagiac Union High School, tied for second on the team in scoring with four goals and two assists. He will receive a fleece jacket designating his second-year award.
