The holiday spirit has begun infiltrating retailers and maybe even a household or two.

Never the unwelcome guest, it will soon make it’s way to Main Street for the annual Holiday Homecoming.

“It’s a great night to come out and work on your christmas wish list,” said Main Street DDA Executive Director Lisa Croteau.

Main Street will be officially lit up with rows of twinkle lights and a festive spirit by Santa Claus himself between 4 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28.

Croteau said there will also be horse-and-buggy rides and a sleigh – if the city sees any of the white stuff.

Carolers will also be on hand for the event and Croteau said all Main Street merchants have stated they will stay open until 7 p.m. for shoppers, serving refreshments and taking part in downtown’s official start to the season.

Lights will be lit at 6 p.m., those who make their way to Main Street will find hot apple cider and fresh popcorn as well as other refreshments.

Attendance has always been “pretty good,” Croteau said, though it is weather-dependent.
For shoppers, she added, it’s a chance to work on that list “after the craziness of Black Friday.”

For businesses it’s a chance to build revenue during the busiest shopping season of the year.
