It may be mid-November, but the Christmas season is in full swing in southwest lower Michigan.

There will be plenty of celebrations beginning this weekend.

Dowagiac will be hosting its Christmas Open House Weekend Friday through Sunday.
Stores will be open from 9-7 p.m. on Friday; 9-5 p.m. on Saturday; and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

There will also be plenty of family events in and around downtown Dowagiac, including the arrival of an Old-World Stanta.

Holiday Homecoming in Niles is slated for Saturday, Nov. 28.

The downtown will officially be lit with rows of twinkle lights, as well as a chance to see Santa Claus.

The event will be held from 4-7 p.m.

Niles will hold its 18th Annual Hometown Christmas celebration at the Historic Amtrak Depot on Saturday, Dec. 5, and the arrival of Santa will begin at 11 a.m. at the Amphitheater downtown.

As in Dowagiac, there will be plenty of activities and treats, as well as a chance to meet Santa Claus.

The event will run from 4:30 until 6 p.m., with the lighting of the depot scheduled for 6.

The Christmas season is truly upon us and we invite you to get out and enjoy one of these holiday festivities to get into the spirit of the season.
