Thanksgiving is six days away, and many of you are preparing your plans for travel, the big meal, family visits, college football and charitable and church events.

Here at Leader Publications, we believe there is a lot to be thankful for, and it doesn’t need to be said just on a holiday.

We are thankful for our employees. They work early mornings and late nights, and many have other jobs and obligations. They genuinely care and do the best job they can to bring our publications to you. We are thankful our loved ones support us in our careers.

We are thankful we do have jobs, when there are many people in the area who do not. We are thankful for the charities, advocacy groups and churches who work tirelessly to help those people back on their feet.

We are thankful for our local government. Officials put in much of their free time and energy into making our schools, cities, townships, counties and other entities operate efficiently. They have a difficult job and we are thankful they have stepped up to the challenge.

We are thankful for our legislators. They are currently facing some of the most difficult tasks they will encounter in their jobs at the capitol. We appreciate their representing us as they battle a funding crisis head on.

We are thankful for our school employees and board members, who are holding their heads high as they are hit with slashes in funding. We know they face some tough decisions as they try to do what’s best for their students and staff.

We are thankful for the food that will grace our tables this Thanksgiving, when there are people who are hungry here and around the world. We are thankful for our friends and family who we will share that day with.

And last but not least, we are thankful for our print and online readers, who want to stay informed about what’s going on in their communities. We are thankful for their feedback – their criticisms, their questions, their compliments, their suggestions. We want to produce products you want to read.

I have the freedom to go Out & About instead of OOT & Aboot
furthermore as an American I know Z (zee) is the last letter of
    proper English.
Yes mam no Zed for Me!
nor do I have to end each 3rd sentence with EH!
