The Fort St. Joseph Museum will host its holiday open house Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The theme of the open house is “Around the World with Santa Claus” and is based on an 1880s book by that title.
Gift-bringers from five countries who were important in Niles’ history will be featured: France, England, Spain, Germany and Ireland. France, England and Spain are from the history of Fort St. Joseph and Niles had many immigrants from Germany and Ireland in its early days. Of course the American Santa Claus will be included as well.
There will be lots of holiday crafts and a Christmas History Hunt for children of all ages that will help them explore both floors of the museum. There will be gift bags to take home and best of all – Father Christmas will be there to greet all of the children.
Members of the Brandywine High School History Club helped decorate the museum for this very special event and they will be present during the Open House to help the children with crafts.
There is no admission fee or activity charge for this event, so bring your family and enjoy a fun-filled, educational day at the museum.
