Russell W. Williams, 94, of Chapel Road, Niles, died at 12:03 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at his home following an extended illness.

He was born Dec. 4, 1914 in Niles to Darius Williams and Sarah Thompson Williams. He was a lifetime resident of Niles.

He married Thelma G. (Jay) Williams, who died Aug. 16, 1975. He then married on April 4, 1976 Elinor R. (Thomas) Williams, who survives. He was a self-employed building contractor.

Russell was a member of Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he held many offices, including Head Elder, was a member of the building committee and was a Sabbath school teacher. He enjoyed reading, especially Bible history; golfing at Hampshire Golf Course; and traveling through the United States and internationally.

He is survived by his wife, Elinor; sons, Larry Walter (Nel) Williams, of Apison, Tenn., Ronald Lee (Drina) Williams, of Anchorage, Alaska; stepdaughter, Phyllis (William) Shupp, of Edwardsburg; stepson, Miles Stephen (Teri) Cooper, of Niles; grandchildren, Heather, Baron, Derrick, Gregory and Brandi; step-grandchildren, Troy and Machelle; several great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a grandson, Bradley Williams; sister, Iva Lanham; and brothers, Walter Williams, Wayne Williams, Verlin Williams and Larned Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 at Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist Church in Niles with Pastor Budgeon, associate pastor of Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Rev. Paul Pellindini officiating.

Burial will be held at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.

Friends may call at the church beginning one hour prior to services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist Church for the Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA).

Arrangements were made by Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
