Jarka scores 42 as Buchanan falls to Lawrence

LAWRENCE – The Buchanan boys’ basketball team dropped to 1-2 on the season following an 82-75 non-conference loss to Lawrence Monday night.

The Bucks grabbed a 24-18 first quarter lead and held on for a 42-35 advantage at halftime.

The Tigers earned their first victory of the season by outscoring Buchanan 47-32 in the second half.

Lawrence’s R.J. Jarka scored a game-high 42 points to lead the Tigers, who also got 15 points from Quin Saule.

The Bucks were led by Savon Brown’s 13 points. Buchanan also had Daniel Blackwell with 12 and Marquis Tyler with 10.

Buchanan plays host to Lake Michigan Catholic on Wednesday. The Bucks return to Lakeland Conference action on Friday against Cassopolis.
