Visiting Bridgman streaked past Brandywine Friday night in a Lakeland Conference clash.

The Bees stung the Bobcats for 19 first quarter points and never looked back in a 68-35 runaway victory.

Coming into the night with a 2-0 record, the Bobcats appeared to be ready to pounce on the Bees. That never happened as Bridgman looked like a well-oiled machine.

Their superb lightning-like passes found their mark and the Bees controlled the tempo on both ends. Defensively, the visitors played havoc with the Bobcat offense, causing 14 turnovers in the first half and 22 for the entire contest.

When the Bee’s Cameron Reeves let go with a crisp 3-pointer to draw first blood, it was a harbinger of things to come.

Stone Hadley came back with a solid field goal on the next Brandywine trip down the court, but failed to make the foul shot bonus after the play.

Then Bridgman rattled off 14 unanswered points to take a 17-2 dominance, before Dustin Sater sank a free throw for the Bobcats with 1:12 left in the stanza.

Nearly six and a half minutes had elapsed between scores by the ‘Cats. The Bees held the Brandywine’s 6-foot-5 center Jake Frazier at bay with a collapsing defense in the paint.
Frazier perked, up, scoring three baskets in the second quarter for Brandywine and Cody Udell added a pair of buckets.

However, Bridgman, aided by Conner Magro’s sizzling shooting, took a 48-19 lead into the locker room at the half.

Magro scored inside and outside, accumulating 17 first half points, including three treys and led scorers with 19 for the game.

Reeves canned all three of his 3- point attempts as the Bees stayed on a roll. Michael Kamp added eight points in three strikes to add to the Bridgman bulge.

A technical foul by Dustin Bell and another violation by the Bobcats, on the same play, put Bridgman center Parker Mojsienko at the line for four free throws, which he converted. That seemed to be the final blow to the Bobcats’ hopes.

At the outset of the third quarter, Frazier got the Bobcats a little closer with a trey and an easy inside lay in. Then he sank another shot, was fouled and converted the charity toss. He had little help from his mates as he accounted for all eight of Brandywine’s points in the frame.

When Frazier notched his fourth foul with 2:00 left in the quarter, Brandywine coach, Nathan Knapp, was  forced to take him out and save him for the stretch.

The stretch never came as the Bees continued to hammer away, taking a 61-27 advantage after three quarters.

Reserves from both squads replaced starters for most of the final four minutes of the game.

Cody Pierson added a 3-pointer and two points from the foul line for the Bobcats, while Cody Luhrsen sank two free tosses.

The Bridgman junior varsity edged Brandywine 51-46. The Bobcats were down by as much as 10 twice, but kept coming back.

Joseph Godfrey had 21 points for the Bobcats, 17 in the first half alone. Brad Montayne had 15, and Jake Malsch knocked in 13 for the Bees.
