Published 9:42pm Friday, March 12, 2010

Southwestern Michigan College is hosting a Student Housing Information Night on Thursday for high school juniors and seniors and their parents. The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will be located in the newly renovated Student Activity Center of the Charles O. Zollar Building on SMC’s Dowagiac campus. Enter campus off of Dailey Road.

On arrival to the Student Activity Center, students should register at the check-in table, where they will receive information about SMC’s housing amenities; costs and application deadlines; financial aid; and campus life activities. Tours of the Keith H. McKenzie Hall and the Student Activity Center will be provided.

SMC President David Mathews will welcome students and parents as well as provide a brief presentation on SMC’s student success rates. Other presentations include campus life activities and SMC’s Intramural and Extreme Sports programs, and an overview of on-campus housing. There will be a question and answer session after the presentations.

McKenzie Hall opened in fall 2009 and is home to 130 full-time students. SMC’s second on-campus housing will open this fall. Each building offers two- and four-bedroom suites, which are fully furnished with a kitchen, living room and bathrooms. Each bedroom accommodates one student.
