Editorial: Discovery’s credibility could take hit with Palin

Former governor Sarah Palin is teaming up with Discovery Communications for a new nature series she will “guide.”
Discovery describes the show as a documentary series about the state’s natural wonders hosted by the 2008 vice presidential nominee, Fox News contributor and best-selling memoirist.
She will receive more than $1 million per episode, Variety reported.
Discovery deservedly earned its reputation as a network renowned for documenting our natural world, with award-winning programs such as Planet Earth and networks such as Animal Planet.
For a corporation that built that reputation on educating viewers about scientific realities, the decision to give Palin a platform seems somewhat disturbing.
Among Palin’s anti-science positions is her denial that humans contribute to climate change.
She called global warming science “snake oil science,” ignoring warnings of the nation’s most prestigious scientific academies, such as NASA and the National Academy of Sciences.
The Chicago Tribune reported that the TLC network will air her eight-part series.
Network owner Discovery Communications announced March 25 that it acquired rights to the series being produced by Mark Burnett, who produces “Survivor,” so it ought to suitably show off Alaska’s splendor.
The series tells stories of the 49th state’s unique features and will be called “Sarah Palin’s Alaska.”
Let’s be open-minded enough to watch the show before condemning it.

Sarah Palin is a true beacon of conservatism. She is just like us. She knows the trials and tribulations of real Americans. Well, those of us with witch hunters.
She has them liberals running scared with her down to earth common sense solutions.
Oh they knock her and say she has nothing of substance to say but she has the answers right in the palm of her hand. Literally. And in permanent ink marker to boot.
We can also be rest assured that she is 100 percent witches curse and demon free.
I myself am thinking of petitioning for her sainthood. After all, she made two house appear out of thin air.
I would say Sarah was dumber than dirt but that would be insulting dirt.
Why would the writer claim that Ms. Palin is “anti science?” The writer also claims that man made “global warming” is a certainty and is supported by the scientists at NASA and other “prestigious scientific acadamies.” Apparently the writer has not availed him/herself of reports that the “science” used by these folks amounts to an agenda that makes assumptions that simply cannot be proven, or on information that is highly suspect. Even NASA has told us that their information is unreliable by virtue of its collection methods. There are an increasing number of scientists that now believe that while climate may well be changing, as it is prone to do, that anthropomorphic global warming is simply not true.
This writer has seen no evidence supporting the notion that Palin is “anti science,” only that she may not accept man made global warming as the dire calamity that some claim it to be.
The Discovery Channel has chosen Palin to narrate a series, not promote any agenda. It would be disengenous to make the assumption that such a thing should be condemned out of hand, much the same that no one should condemn Al Gore out of hand in a narrative role.
Any “TRUE” Conservative knows that
Global Warming is NOT Man Made,
it was caused by the Easter Bunny!
When that Silly Rabbit scared the Turtle carrying
the earth on it’s back Swimming through the Universe.
thus putting such a fright in the Wonder Turtle,
that threw his pace off slowing him down thus
reducing the plasmatic winds that flow around,
and under the earths Plate like Surface.
Just listen to Glen beck, he’ll
splain it to you
As usual, Messrs. Taylor and Leers have provided us with the usual liberal point of view. Invective and Fantasy.
sarah palin thinks dinosaurs lived at the same time as people and thinks witches are real. this is on video tape. she is stupid beyond belief.
