SMC to host family day
Published 10:42pm Tuesday, July 13, 2010The Museum at Southwestern Michigan College is hosting a free Family Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 22.
“Local Adventurers,” an interactive educational experience for the whole family, will allow visitors to do the activities at their leisure, said museum director Steve Arseneau. The activities will take about an hour.
Designed for children in third grade and up, visitors will learn about several local adventurers from Cass County, including Capt. Iven Kincheloe, who set the altitude record in 1956; Leigh Wade, a pilot on the first around the world flight in 1924; and Webb Miller, a former United Press reporter who interviewed many world leaders and newsmakers of the 1910s through the 1930s.
The Museum at Southwestern Michigan College is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. For more information, contact 782-1374 or 782-687-1600 ext. 1374. Visit the museum website at www.swmich.edu/museum.
