Tim Wilson knows what it feels like to be overwhelmed with trying to find good information.
Having a grandson with autism, he spent years trying to find helpful information on the condition.
“It was mind-boggling,” Wilson said.
But eventually he did and now he is dedicated to helping others find accurate and helpful resource information on a variety of subjects.
Wilson, the administrator of the Buchanan Moose Lodge, will introduce the community’s first Safety and Resource Fair Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at the lodge.
More than 30 community safety vendors will be on hand, including four area fire departments, five police departments, the American Red Cross, Rehab Without Walls, Therapeutic Equestrian Center, Neighborhood Watch, the Berrien County Health Department and the YMCA.
Wilson hopes the information from the organizations will help people looking for accurate information.
“I hope this will put their minds at ease that there is easy access to correct and good information,” he said. “There are a lot of good programs out there. My wife and I have taken the time and researched it.”
In addition to the network of information, there will be live music, door prizes and free hot dogs, chips and pop. All the activities and food is free.
Wilson, who took over the Buchanan Moose Lodge six months ago, used to hold similar events at the Elkhart Moose Lodge that would attract thousands of people. His most recent event in Elkhart drew 150 vendors and more than 4,000 people.
Wilson’s main goal for the event is to showcase the people doing good in the community.
“There are still good people out there willing to help,” he said. “You hear about robberies, murder and it gets old. This is to bring back a perspective that we are still good people.”
