Buchanan man wins big
Published 11:20pm Monday, February 28, 2011Four Winds Casino Resort in New Buffalo has announced that seven people split a Bad Beat Jackpot worth $237,500 by playing Texas Hold’Em on Friday, Feb. 18.
A W Club member from Buchanan was dealt four sixes while playing Texas Hold’Em in Four Winds Casino Resort’s World Poker Tour Poker Room. He thought he had a winning hand, but lost to a player with four sevens, which triggered Four Winds’ Bad Beat Jackpot worth $237,500.
The W Club member won 40 percent of the jackpot, valued at $95,000, while the player with the winning hand won 20 percent of the jackpot, valued at $47,500. The remaining players at the table also split 20 percent of the jackpot, with the remaining 20 percent split between players on the top 20 leader board.
The top 20 leader board is unique to Four Winds Casino Resort and is based on the amount of hands played in a calendar month. The players on the leader board have the luxury of not having to be present in order to share in the Bad Beat jackpot prize.
A Bad Beat Jackpot is paid when a sufficiently strong hand is played, but loses to an even stronger hand held by another player. Players with the two strongest hands receive the majority of the jackpot with the rest of the table receiving a portion.
The poker room features daily Texas Hold’Em tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $10 to $100 and Sit and Go tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $25 to $500. The World Poker Tour Poker Room includes live traditional poker and electronic poker with Poker Pro tables.
