City holds off on new fence

Wednesday, October 25, 2006 11:06 AM EDT

NILES - On Monday evening, Niles City Council members tabled a $14,480 fence replacement project for Silverbrook Cemetery.

Following questions raised by council members Pat Gallagher and Dan VandenHeede, the item was removed from the consent agenda and held until city officials can provide the board with more information about the construction of the new fence and what is to be done with the current fence, which is in poor repair.

The city did approve the annual "Arrival of Santa Claus" celebration, to be held on Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Riverfront Amphitheater.

Lucy McCauslin was also appointed to the Niles Main Street board, replacing Michelle Boyd.
