Ohio Valley Regional action heats up

NILES - The Ohio Valley Regional continued on Friday with 10 games at Pepper Martin Park.
Host Howard Township came away with a couple of victories on the second day.
Howard Township defeated Neenah (Wisconsin) 6-4, while Howard Township Black was a 12-2 winner over Benton Harbor.
Brandywine, which was a winner on the opening night, was defeated by Clay County (Indiana) 16-4, while Schererville (Indiana) defeated Southeastern Lexington (Kentucky) 6-5.
In other games, Sturgeon Bay (Wisconsin) toppled Benton Harbor 13-6 and Harris Black (Indiana) defeated Meade County (Kentucky) 12-1.

Howard Township held off pesky Neenah (Wisconsin) on Friday afternoon to pick up its first win of the tournament.
Bryce Lake was the winning pitcher for Howard Township.
Cody Glick had three hits, while Alex Harpeneau and Dustin Anders also picked up singles.

Benton Harbor...2
Howard Black scored five runs in the first and four more in the second to erase a 1-0 deficit and turn the game into a rout.
Connor Amberg and Jakob Huffman combined one a one-hitter with seven strikeouts.
Howard Black finished with 12 hits, including a single and a triple, plus three RBIs from Huffman.
Austin Curran had three hits, while Josh Renner had a double, a single and a RBI.
Ben Florkowski also had two hits.

Brandywine...4
Clay County scored 12 runs in the last two innings to break open what was a very competitive contest.
Clay County jumped out to 4-0 lead on Brandywine after the first two innings, however, in the third inning the All-Stars cut the lead to 4-2.
Clay County scored seven times in the top of the fourth to open up an 11-2 lead.
Brandywine scored two runs in its half of the fourth to make it an 11-4 contest.
Five more runs in the fifth for Clay County capped the scoring.
Luke Lancaster and Austin Cook combined to strike out five and allow four hits for Clay County.
Mitch Williams had two doubles, a single and three RBIs for Clay County, which also got a double, two singles and four RBIs from Jase Glassborn.
Brigham Booe had a single, two doubles and four RBIs, while Austen Stevenson added two hits and two RBIs.
Brandywine sent Toby Fox, Shevin Yazel and Brady Duval to the mound.
Duval had a single and a double to pace Brandywine offensively. Also getting hits were Yazel, Fox, Scott Miller, Brenden Hall, Nicholas Bailey and Nathan Kemp.
